We gather in a simple horse barn in Loudoun County, Virginia. If a simple stable was good enough for the birth of our Savior, it’s sure good enough for us! This barn was miraculously transformed into a beautiful chapel by a team of volunteers from Louisiana who received a call from God. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD. God is honored in this humble setting, and He’s doing a Mighty Work here!
We gather similarly to how the early church did. We believe that fellowship is important in relationship building (something lacking in so many churches today), so we break bread together first. Next, we worship in song, and THEN we have a powerful message inspired by God Himself. I once heard it said that it isn’t the size of the church that matters, but the size of the Truth being shared. This could easily be the formal motto for The Well.
We have a “come as you are, be loved as you are” philosophy. Named after the story of the Samaritan woman at the well, we understand that Jesus met people right where they were, sin and all, and He loved them into Restoration. That is NOT to say that we whitewash the Truth OR that we accept sin as the norm. But even Jesus broke bread with sinners when He shared the Truth with Love. After all, if people never hear the Truth, how can they ever know that sin is wrong in the eyes of God?
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe that Christ died for our sins and was raised again on the 3rd day. We believe that “no man comes to the Father except by” Him.
We’re ready to baptize in a simple horse trough most Sundays, and we partake of communion often.
If you’re looking for creature comforts, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a humble setting where the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth is taught, you’ve come to the right place.
